Cruise Whitsundays is proud to announce its continuing partnership with the Airlie Beach Running Festival. This year will be the 5th annual Cruise Whitsundays Airlie Beach Running Festival held on 16 July 2017.

Gaining a reputation as one of the most scenic races in Australia the running festival has become a drawcard for domestic and international tourists to the region.
Cruise Whitsundays Chief Executive Officer Nick Hortle said “Cruise Whitsundays is a proud supporter of the running festival and this event has had significant growth and continues to increase visitors to the region each year”.

“In 2016 we saw a record of 637 participants making the event the largest onshore mass participation event in the Whitsunday region”, said Race Director Tim Oberg.
“This year we will be including two new events; the 42.2km ‘Heart of the Reef’ Marathon that will also be North Queensland Marathon Championships; and the Turtle Club 1km Family Fun Walk. The latter will be a FREE event open to the whole community” he said.
“Other events include the 2km Junior Dash, The Coffee Club 5km Fun Run, Mantra 10km Fun Run and Cruise Whitsundays Half Marathon”.

"We are thrilled to welcome back Cruise Whitsundays as the naming rights sponsor of the 2017 Cruise Whitsundays Airlie Beach Running Festival. In particular we are excited with their support of our new Turtle Club 1km Family Fun Walk, a free event for all members of the community," he said.
Organised by the Whitsunday Running Club, Mr Oberg said “We are keen to see new participants join the runners of 2016 that largely came from the Whitsunday Region, Mackay and Townsville. We also saw a large increase in participation from Airlie Beach itself which was very encouraging.” Mr Oberg said.
